Dominoes is the classic tile-matching game, played here as the draw game with a double-six set. Take turns adding a tile whose number matches one open end of the line. Can’t play? Draw from the boneyard until you can. Be first to play your last tile and score the pips left in your opponent’s hand — or, if the line is blocked, win with the lighter hand. The hard computer remembers which numbers you are missing.

How to play Dominoes

Goal: Play all your tiles first, or hold the fewest pips when the game blocks.

Keyboard & mouse

  • Click a highlighted tile to play it (choose an end if it fits both)
  • D draws (or passes) when you cannot play
  • Left/Right arrows move between your tiles, Enter or Space plays
  • P or Escape to pause

Phone & tablet

  • Tap a highlighted tile to play it
  • Tap “Draw a tile” when you have no match

Rules

  • Each player gets seven tiles; the rest form the boneyard. The highest double leads.
  • On your turn, add a tile with a number matching one open end of the line.
  • If you cannot play, draw from the boneyard until you can; when it is empty, pass.
  • Play your last tile to win the hand and score the pips in your opponent’s hand.
  • If nobody can move, the lighter hand wins the difference. Matches are first to 3 hands (1 or 5 in Options).

Tips and strategy

  • Get rid of heavy tiles (lots of pips) early in case the game blocks.
  • Keep a variety of numbers in your hand so you can follow more ends.
  • When your opponent draws, they lack both end numbers — try to leave them those ends again.
  • Doubles are hardest to place; play them while you can.
