Rock Drift drops you into a wrap-around field of tumbling space rocks. Your little ship keeps its momentum, so every burst of thrust sends you sliding until you turn and slow yourself. Shoot the big boulders and they crack into smaller, faster pieces; clear the whole field and a bigger wave rolls in. Touch, mouse and keyboard controls, an extra life every 10,000 points, and a best score to beat.
How to play Rock Drift
Goal: Survive as many waves as you can and set a high score.
Keyboard & mouse
- Left/Right (or A/D) turn the ship
- Up (or W) thrusts
- Space fires
- P or Escape to pause
Phone & tablet
- Touch and hold where you want to go: the ship turns towards your finger and fires
- Hold far from the ship to thrust; close to it to just turn and shoot
Rules
- Turn, thrust and shoot. Your ship drifts with momentum and wraps around the screen edges.
- Big rocks split into two medium rocks, medium into two small; small rocks shatter.
- Score 20 for a big rock, 50 for a medium and 100 for a small one.
- Touching a rock costs one of your three lives; you respawn with a short shield.
- Clear the field to start a bigger wave. Extra life every 10,000 points.
Tips and strategy
- Small rocks are fast but worth the most — finish them off quickly.
- Short bursts of thrust are easier to control than holding it down.
- Shooting a big rock near you creates fast pieces right on top of you; shoot from a distance.
